Alex Timbers is apparently in talks to direct Emma Stone in the upcoming Cruella origin story. According to Collider, the co-creator of Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle and co-director of Broadway’s Peter and the Starcatcher is currently negotiating a deal to helm the film.
What’s interesting is that this wouldn’t be the first time the director worked with (or nearly worked with) Disney. Earlier this year he was replaced as the director of the Frozen stage show coming to Broadway.
While Cruella is currently without a release date, Disney is apparently hoping to begin production early next year.
