In just a few day, Disney’s latest live-action remake, Beauty and the Beast, will arrive in theatres. While previous efforts in this relatively new genre have done well, Beauty seems poised to be an all-out blockbuster, if presales are to be believed. In fact, as Erik Davis of Fandango told MarketWatch, the film’s presales, “rival those of a superhero movie.” He also says the film is topping Finding Dory, which holds the record for best pre-sales for a family film. Update (3/7/17): Updated results released by Fandango indicate that Beauty and the Beast is indeed now the fastest selling family film in Fandango history, and that tickets are outpacing last summer’s Captain America: Civil War — in other words, it’s a beast!
