Despite occurring a week after Disney’s D23 Expo, Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel Studios will have a panel at San Diego Comic Con this year. Marvel did not participate in 2011 and 2015 Comic Con’s which were both Expo years.
There is no word if Lucasfilm will be hosting a Star Wars panel. Before The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams hosted a panel and then escorted the audience to a nearby park where the San Diego Symphony held a concert complete with fireworks.
There is no doubt, that both franchises will be represented at the D23 Expo. Traditionally they have been included in a “Live-Action” panel, whereas at Comic-Con they each get their own time in the sun.
