Front Entrance Repaving
The most recent change inside Disneyland has been the continuing of their project to repave the entire Main Street area with the new brick style. Just this past week the west tunnel of the front entrance has been reopened. Access to the Mickey Floral in front of the train has also been restored. Work continues on Town Square and in front of City Hall. One interesting tipdit - because Town Square is completely blocked off the flag cannot be brought down each night. So guests have the rare opportunity to see the American Flag stay up all night long, with a light shone on it of course.

Plaza Inn Character Breakfast Buffet
In early October Disneyland began serving it's only in-park breakfast buffet. The Plaza Inn now serves a very large breakfast buffet until 11:00 each morning. And best of all, characters are onhand to entertain the kiddies (and the big kiddies). When we visited the characters included Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. The breakfast choices consisted of an omelette bar, french toast, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, tatter tots, fruit, biscuits, bakery products (pastries, croissants, bagels, etc) and cold cereal. It is completely self-service, bussers are only there to take your dirty plates.

When we arrived on a Saturday morning breakfast there was a lengthy line for entry. We noticed that only a couple of people were sitting outside, though, so we asked the hostess why the wait. She replied the wait was only if you wanted to sit inside with the characters. If you didn't mind sitting outside, without characters, you could go right in. This is good to know if you're only interested in eating. Hopefully they'll add a sign or in some other way make sure all guests are aware of this policy in the future.

The price is 16.99 for adults and 9.99 for children. For the month of October all Annual Passholders, including Regular and Deluxe, will receive a 10% discount on the breakfast. For those visiting Disneyland with a flex pass, the Magic Morning breakfast feature can be applied towards the cost of the Plaza Inn breakfast.

GoofySign1.jpg (10029 bytes)The New Goofy's Kitchen
Speaking of characeter breakfastes, the new Goofy's Kitchen opened up a couple of months ago at the Disneyland Hotel. The old Goofy's Kitchen had to be closed to make way for Downtown Disney construction. The new restaurant is in the former location of Stromboli's restaurant. But the restaurant didn't just move, it was completely redone. The pictures below will give you an idea of the new decor. The food is definitely a couple of notches above where it was. Some of the Stromboli's favorites have migrated including the wonderful BBQ Chicken Pizza. The food also tends to be fresher since it's made in smaller portions by the chefs in the adjoining kitchen. Goofy's Kitchen joins Hook's Pointe and Granville's as the new crop of Disneyland Hotel restaurants. Also available is Croc's Bits 'n' Bites,a counter service hamburger stand, and Captain's Galley which has premade salads and sandwhiches, snacks and a coffee bar.

Goofy's Kitchen:
Breakfast hours are 7a - 11:30a. Price is $15.95 for adults. $8.95 for children (4 - 12) and $3.95 for infants 3 and under
Lunch hours are 12p - 2:30p. Price is $16.95 for adults. $8.95 for children (4 - 12) and $3.95 for infants 3 and under
Dinner hours are 5p - 9p. Price is $24.95 for adults. $8.95 for children (4 - 12) and $3.95 for infants 3 and under
Note: The restaurant does not close between breakfast and lunch but does close between lunch and dinner.
