According to Deadline, the untitled half-hour series comes from Tracy Oliver, best known for writing Girls Trip and creating hit series like Harlem. Oliver will write and executive produce the project, which is already generating buzz thanks to its sharp premise and strong creative team.
The story centers on a high-powered crisis manager for professional athletes, expected to be played by Anthony, whose carefully controlled life unravels after her husband’s scandal. Forced to confront her own personal crisis, she leans on her closest friends as they navigate the complexities of dating, ambition, motherhood, and starting over.
Blending humor with real-life challenges, the series aims to explore friendship and reinvention through a lens that feels both glamorous and grounded.
The decision to pass on Group Chat marks a shift in direction rather than a setback. The original pilot, inspired by Anthony’s book The Love Playbook, followed a group of successful women in Los Angeles balancing career, relationships, and friendship.
Though the project won’t move forward, the continued collaboration between Anthony, Kardashian, and Hulu signals confidence in their creative partnership, and a desire to find the right story to tell together.
The new series will be produced by 20th Television, where Kardashian has an ongoing first-look deal.
