Jellyrolls Finds New Location, Promising Opening Later This Year
Don't plan your hotel stay around the new Jellyrolls just yet, though.
The owners of Jellyrolls have said that they are ready to open their new location, having relocated from Disney's Boardwalk Resort after closing last year, later this summer.
What's Happening:
- For almost 30 years, guests visiting Disney's Boardwalk Resort could have stepped into a fan-favorite venue and heard live music from dueling pianos and their performers at Jellyrolls.
- Nearly a year ago, the popular location at Disney's Boardwalk closed its doors for good after the owners of Jellyrolls decided to vacate the Walt Disney World location.
- Now, officials with Jellyroll's ownership have reportedly confirmed that they have lined up a new location, with a grand opening planned for late summer or early fall of this year.
- According to the Orlando Sentinel, the new location will be located 10 minutes from the former location at Disney's Boardwalk. Jellyrolls is reportedly building out a commercial space in Lake Buena Vista, near resorts, shops, and restaurants that cater to both tourists and locals, with free parking. Parking that will be closer to the doors of Jellyrolls, unlike the the Boardwalk setup, with a drop off and pick-up area right at the front door for rideshare services.
- The report also shares that Jellyrolls owner Michael Williams was determined to find just the right location, saying that is why it has taken so long to land on a new location for the favorite venue. Construction has already begun to transform the space into an entertainment venue like Jellyrolls.
- Once open, Jellyrolls will retain many of the features that the venue had been known for, including their signature popcorn and specialty drinks and cocktails.
- Expecting a reveal of the location? Unfortunately that is still being kept under lock and key, though folks can sign up at the official Jellyrolls Orlando website and find out as soon as they reveal the new place.
X Marks The Pianos:
- While Jellyrolls Orlando didn't officially reveal the new location for their triumphant return just yet, we have a couple of options that we can explore.
- We already have a few clues, namely:
- 10 minutes from original location at Disney's Boardwalk Resort
- in Lake Buena Vista area
- Construction transforming a space/likely pre-existing location
- "Near Resorts, Shops, and Restaurants that cater to both tourists and locals."
- We also don't think they'd be located anywhere on Disney property again - otherwise we think they could find themselves in a Disney Springs location. That's not to say that WON'T happen, we just think it's unlikely.
- So, purely speculating based on those clues, we are guided toward existing areas just outside of Walt Disney World, near the Disney Springs/Lake Buena Vista area.
- The 10 minute drive could point in the other direction toward Flamingo Crossings, though the Lake Buena Vista specification narrows us down to the opposite side of Walt Disney World, near the former Crossroads plaza. While that development was razed for further traffic changes on nearby I-4, there are other existing areas nearby.
- Palm Parkway falls into this, with several plazas featuring restaurants and bars surrounded by hotels that are visited by tourists and locals. The intersection to turn onto this street also features some popular restaurants, and a large location near the Hyatt Grand Cypress resort that just became available as the Twin Peaks restaurant and bar was recently shuttered.
- At the other end of Palm Parkway lies the newer O-Town West, featuring additional hotels nearby and popular restaurants, that could also be a potential location, though another viable option lies on the opposite side of I-4.
- Almost directly across I-4, still in the Lake Buena Vista area, is an area that is exploding with development in recent years along with O-Town West. Located near the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets, new plazas and areas full of restaurants, bars, hotels, and apartment complexes are being built. This area was also slated for the Orlando version of AREA 15 before it was ultimately cancelled, leaving more space available in this area for other entertainment options. Further down the road going back toward Walt Disney World, passing Little Lake Bryan and the former apartment homes of the participants of the Walt Disney World College Program, there are also locations available in that area, also surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and bars that could be viable options. Though, a lot of the pre-existing buildings in this area - including a shuttered Chick-Fil-A location - are marked for demolition as work continues on I-4 expansions and projects.
- Again, none of these are official locations, purely speculating based on the information we already know.
