LP Lotion: Magic of Hong Kong Disneyland Stores
Page 1 of 1
Magic of HKDL
On arrival at Hong Kong International Airport
passengers are greeted by the two former Disney Store locations. These stores
have been transformed into the Magic of Hong Kong Disneyland stores. Inside
guests can watch footage of the resort under construction and purchase Hong
Kong Disneyland merchandise. Some of the merch features the park logo but much
of is emblazoned with an adorable range of stylised Disney characters.
Remarkably similar to Tokyo Disney Resort line (I'd stake money on the same
design team having responsibility for both resorts) the product is
outstanding. A huge selection of paper and stationery products is very popular
as one would expect from an Asian economy. It seems clear that the kawaii
(cute) phenomenon that drives Disney and non-Disney culture in Japan is
equally popular in Hong Kong.
At present these are the only two locations
selling HKDL product. The last remaining Disney Store location at Ocean
Terminal, Kowloon has a display about the park but continues to sell the usual
staple of US-style Disney Stores.
