Another MVNO Bites the Dust

So Disney's second attempt at running a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) has failed, and I am caught in the middle once again.  As a Disney loyalist I signed up for Mobile ESPN as soon as I had the chance.  After paying a heafty price for my phone and watching the prices go down and down, Mobile ESPN shut its doors and I decided I would switch to Disney Mobile.  You would think that switch would be easy.  It was not.  Apparently the fact I went from one MVNO to another caused all sorts of problems when it came to porting my number, and I ended up without a working phone for weeks.  The folks at both Mobile ESPN and Disney Mobile have always been friendly, but they had challenges.  So now I am without a cell phone provider, and I am hoping that porting my number will be a lot easier this time.  I am glad Disney tried these new ventures, even though they were not successful.  In today's changing world, it is often better to try something out than to not try at all.  For every Disney Mobile, there is an ABC.com video player that is a success.  This is Bob's vision and I like it.  While Walt might not have ever bothered with a cell phone company, he did try new things.  And enjoying new things is my favorite part of being a Disney fan.  But first things first, I need to find a new cell provider.

Quick Takes:

Studio Entertainment: The teaser poster for Wall-E is out.  If you have seen the trailer, the look and feel are probably familiar.  This film is getting a lot of buzz so expect big things from it.  Speaking of Pixar, Ratatouille has been No. 1 at the box office for six consecutive weeks in France, which sinks that country's sales record set by 1997’s Titanic.  Remy is king of the world, or at least France.  I wonder which cell company he uses.

Media Networks:  3 in a row!  ABC won night three of its season with Dancing with the Stars (Goodbye, Josie Maran! I hardly knew you.  Seriously, who are you?  I thought this show was for famous people), Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money.  Tonight ABC aired the season premieres of Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy in addition to the series premiere of Big Shots.  Let's hope ABC can go four in a row!

Consumer Products: I went to Disneyshopping.com today, and on the bottom is a link telling me I can have a Disney phone!  Maybe someone should clue them in.  At least there isn't a link to Mickey's Kitchen of Club Disney.

Video of the Day:  This video has architect Jay Turnbull give a peak in to the construction of the Walt Disney Family Museum at thePresidio in San Fransisco.  As a past bay area resident, it is great to see Disney have an increased presence in my old home town.  Pixar is located across the bay from San Fransisco and Disney's new ImageMovers Digital studio, that was created with Robert Zemeckis is located there as well.
