I have recently returned from a fun trip to the Tokyo Disney Resort and have plenty of news and thoughts that I wanted to share with you. We will also pay tribute to the Legend of Mythica attraction and preview our upcoming Halloween coverage.

King Triton’s Concert opening date
If you have missed the recent news that we posted in our news section, the Resort has announced April 24th as the opening date for “King Triton’s Concert” which is a new show for the Mermaid Lagoon Theatre. The announcement promises that the current theatre will be renovated with upgraded staging, lighting and new display screens to be installed around the audience seating area. You can also expect it to include all your favourite Characters from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. This will be a much needed addition to the line up of attractions at Mermaid Lagoon which is a collection of kid rides but has some of the best air conditioning inside the Park. So it will be very welcoming to visit the area during the peak of Summer and enjoy a break while enjoying the new show.

Sadly the Legend of Mythica finished on the 7th of September. This was a very sad day for many Guests and people were lining up outside to see the last show two days before it‘s retirement. At the end of this article we have a few pictures to share from one of the last performances of this loved day-time spectacular from Steve Davison and his talented creative team.

The following day construction walls started appearing in areas around the Mediterranean Harbor to begin working on improvements to the viewing areas. We are unsure of what changes will be made but it’s expected to continue into early 2015.

Talking of 2015, the Resort has already released details for it’s entertainment plans with several changes. Tokyo DisneySea will for the first time celebrate Easter with a new Harbor show. Sadly this will mean that the event “Spring Voyage” will not be returning next year. New day-time harbor shows are also planned for Halloween and Christmas. Over at Tokyo Disneyland the Jungle Cruise has reopened after a 6 month refurbishment under the new name Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions. The attraction has added several new effects, script and a musical score. Overall the changes have really helped to refresh this classic attraction. All the scenes we love are still part of the Jungle Cruise. The music plays a big part in the new adventure and captures the sense of the moment. Such as forbidding music when we enter the Hippo Pool. Perhaps the biggest change is the Temple scene where projections appear along the temple walls.

Also new at the Park this year is Once Upon A Time which is the nightly Castle projection show. To get central located seats you may attempt the lottery once a day. We were unsuccessful each time and had to view the show from a different location around the hub. Despite this we really enjoyed this show. It features a storyline of Mrs Potts reading Chip a bedtime story. And all the scenes are Fantasyland inspired. Included in the show are lasers and pyrotechnics which help to tell the story.

Despite the huge popularity of “Once Upon A Time” this hasn’t stopped Tokyo Disneyland from improving it’s night-time offerings and a renewal for Dreamlights is planned for 2015. The Parade will debut on the 9th of July and include 7 revamped floats plus the new addition of brand new Tangled themed float with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Pete’s Dragon in the above image was recently renewed.

A new theatre attraction is also in the plans for next year and work has already began on the former Captain EO building. It will be named Stitch Encounter and will involve Guests talking live to Stitch like Turtle Talk with Crush.

Halloween has already started at both Parks and you can expect LaughingPlace.com to cover it in the build up to Halloween. But here is a short preview of what’s to come.
