Review: Disney Shout

Picture it- you’re with your family, sitting around, and someone asks what do do next. Has this ever happened to you?

Thankfully, thanks to Disney’s newest fun app, you now have something to suggest! Disney Shout will get you laughing, shouting, and working together with three different types of categories in this fun interactive game. Ever been stuck in the back seat during a road trip? A line (possibly at a Disney resort?!), at a get together, family dinner? This game is for you!

The game starts with choosing one of Mickey’s friends, up to six players. As mentioned, there are three categories to guess or answer questions from-

Shout- Listen to clues from other players and guess the word on the screen

Favorites- Guess the players favorite answer to all kinds of Disney questions

Spot- Try to find the spot in the picture your opponent selected, all from classic Disney Shorts and movies.

The thing I really appreciated about this game is that you can play it with young children. So many of these types of games or apps are for children that are a little older, but this is extremely easy to play with the younger ones that are learning how to read. With that being said, it’s definitely a family game that has simplicity going for it. After you answer questions correctly you earn stars, but the stars are collectively gathered together, so it’s more like a conjoined effort to earn stars together as a group instead of individually.

I only had one couple nit picky thing with this game- occasionally, once you’ve “won” one of the three categories, before you move on to the next player, you have the opportunity to take a picture of yourself or the other players with a fun Disney frame, including posing as Pluto, or even wearing Donald’s hat! Once the game was over, we tried looking for the pictures, assuming they’d be saved on the phone, but they weren’t. I would have loved to have seen those pictures for longer than a couple seconds because I loved that idea!

With most apps, I don’t really purchase the “add on” packs because usually the basic version of the game is great, but in this case, I strongly recommend buying the additional add on packs, with each one being $3.99. The basic version is definitely fun, but if you’re playing it a couple times in a row, you’ll start to get the same questions, pictures, and such, which is understandable. Additionally, when you buy the “add on” packs, you have the option to mix them all together, which is really appealing!

This is exactly the kind of app I would use to play with my family in line at a Disney resort! It’s simple, fun, and makes time fly! Due to the non-competitive nature of the game, it’s easy to stop and start again without feeling like you’ve totally lost the game, which is great for kids or any Disney fan! Lauren has been a Disney fan all her life. On her first birthday, she received a copy of the Disney Sing-a-long, Disneyland Fun, and ever since that, she's been hardcore in learning everything she can about the park. Another one of her favorite aspects is the food and she enjoys recreating those recipes to share with her friends and family. She also loves any craft that she can add a little bit of Disney magic or a hidden Mickey to make more magical.
