ShellieMay the Disney Bear’s First U.S. Park Merchandise

Coming all the way from Japan’s Tokyo DisneySea, ShellieMay the Disney Bear has finally made her appearance in Disneyland and Disney World. Duffy’s girlfriend (bearfriend?) arrived on Tuesday, October 20th, bringing with her an impressive spread of merchandise to share with fans.

I went to Disneyland to pick up my ShellieMay goods on October 21st. There still seemed to be some confusion amongst cast members as to where the girl bear’s goods could be found. After discovering only the 17-inch ShellieMay plush at Disneyland’s Emporium, I was told her outfits had not yet arrived to this coast and to check back later in the month. Thankfully, the cast member at the register mentioned that the missing attire could be purchased at the World of Disney store in the Downtown Disney District. I was warned that supplies were extremely limited. Both of those statements were, in fact, correct. What was not mentioned was that Treasures in Paradise, originally regarded as Duffy’s home-store in California Adventure, also had a good supply of outfits and plushes.

In short, the best places to purchase ShellieMay goods from the Disneyland Resort at this time are Downtown Disney’s World of Disney store and California Adventure’s Treasures in Paradise.

Now, onto the merchandise! For readers who may not be visiting the Parks soon, I have included each item’s SKU. Should you wish to order something via Disney Parks mail order (simply call 877-560-6477 or email [email protected]), be sure to reference it to expedite the process.

ShellieMayplush

The 17-inch ShellieMay (SKU 400008494663) is the basic plush. This is the size to buy if you are interested in dressing her up in those cute outfits, each sold separately. Her cute little bow is removable. This plush costs $33.

tinkcostume tinkback

My favorite of her new costumes is the Tinker Bell one (SKU 400009581959). The clever addition of a pompom on her bow as well as a translucent bow hidden behind her fairy wings are both nice touches. The costume costs $23.

princessminnie

A costume I saw frequently that day was Princess Minnie Mouse (SKU 400009559590). The costume includes a pink, flowing dress and a “Princess hat,” not unlike those found in the Parks. The hat also has mouse ears on it, hence the “Minnie Mouse” bit. It costs $23.

mariecostume marieback

The next outfit, the aptly named Marie Costume (SKU 400009542578), grants ShellieMay the ability to dress as the popular little girl kitten from Disney’s The Aristocats. Highlights of this costume include multiple pink satin bows, kitty ears, and a fluffy, white tail. You’ll have to provide the sass. Costs $23.

holidaycostume

In case you are already planning your holiday shopping, ShellieMay’s Holiday Costume (SKU 400009565942) is also available for purchase. The set includes a darling caplet accented with pompoms and holly and a matching bow with pompom detail. The outfit isn’t as big as the others listed and only covers the bear’s shoulder’s and chest but is sweet nonetheless. Price is $23.

DXminniemouse

Next up up are the Deluxe costumes. These are the costume sets in window boxes. The first one is Deluxe Minnie Mouse costume (SKU 400009637892 ). This boxset includes a bow headband, Minnie Mouse dress, purse, and a pair of shoes. The included outfit is reminiscent of the previous My Disney Girl dolls. This set costs $33.

DXpajamaset

The second of the two Deluxe costumes released at launch was the Deluxe Pajama costume (SKU 400009637892). Included in this set are a nightcap, nightgown (which reads “Night Night, Bear!”), slippers, and a pillow. Like the first Deluxe costume, this one also costs $33.

shelliemayparkday

If you fancy your ShellieMay to be slightly smaller, Disney has you covered on that front, too, with several 12-inch pre-dressed plushes available. The first is called Day in the Park ShellieMay (SKU 40000956664). This plush come equipped with a Minnie Mouse headband, pin trading bag, colorful outfit, and sandals.

shelliemaycheer

The second of the 12-inch trio is Cheerleader ShellieMay (SKU 400009582048). The fabric for her outfit is stretchy, just like a real leotard. Nice touch.

myfirstshelliemay

Completing the three is the My First ShellieMay plush (SKU 400009582055). This toy is a companion plush to My First Duffy.

shelliemaypillow

Continuing another merchandise trend seen in the parks recently, ShellieMay also gets the Dream Pet (SKU 400009307764) treatment (Disney’s answer to the Pillow Pet). Unlike the 17-inch ShellieMay, her bow is sewn to her head.

shelliemaybook

Just like Duffy, ShellieMay also has a picture book (SKU 9781484732892) telling the story of how she met the rest of the Disney family. Each page is filled with the same sort of colorful illustrations as Duffy’s. Priced at $5.99, this is cheapest piece of ShellieMay merchandise.

Speaking as a huge fan of Duffy, I am thrilled we are finally seeing ShellieMay in the U.S. Parks. The next big question is, how long will it be before we see Gelatoni the cat make his way here?
