On October 1st, 2016, Walt Disney World Ambassadors welcomed president George Kalogridis to Cinderella Castle to rededicate the park for its 45th anniversary. Repeating the words Roy O. Disney spoke in 1971, all of Magic Kingdom’s characters joined in the fun.
During his speach, Kalogridis also points to the future with lands based on Avatar, Star Wars and Toy Story coming to the resort. He also hints at more surprises in store for the golden anniversary in 2021.
The festivities conclude with a modern performance of the Disney anthem “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
The crowds were strong at the Magic Kingdom as guests and cast members wanted to participate in today’s anniversary festivities.
As they entered, guests were given a anniversary button and special commemorative map.
Cast members had a special button commemorating other parts of Walt Disney World that are also celebrating their 45th anniversary today.
