Review: Disney Princess PleyBox

Subscription boxes are all the rage and, really, who doesn’t enjoy them? The idea of having something automatically sent to your house with goodies is extremely appealing, so, of course, when Pley announced that they would be doing a subscription box featuring Disney Princesses, we were all about it!

Pley currently features two kinds of subscription boxes for your little ones. The first is a rental box, where you choose and have toys sent to your door for your children to play with, then return when they are done. The second is a Princess Mystery Box that will include four to eight Princess figures, along with accessories and other surprises. While both boxes are a great deal, we received our first Princess Mystery Box yesterday and were anything but disappointed.

The boxes they ship with actually fold-out and turn into a scene or something you can fold together and color, so be extra careful when opening the box. This month’s box appropriately featured Belle, which made my daughter even more excited with all the hype for the live-action Beauty and the Beast (we received the box before the film’s release). This box folded out to the Beast’s castle, which you can easily fold together for play. We loved that it came ready to color. My little Princess had the time of her life coloring the castle and really making it her own.

Next, we found six beautifully detailed characters from Beauty and the Beast. Each one I pulled out of the bag was met with squeals of delight! It’s a great assortment of characters for game play and fit wonderfully on the castle we assembled. As a mom, I appreciate that they are sturdy. We come across a lot of figures like this with flimsy parts that don’t last terribly long. All the characters are made of plastic and while I wouldn’t say they are heavy, they will absolutely hold up.

When you subscribe to the box, you are asked what size of clothing your child wears, which we happily discovered in this box. A beautiful yellow shirt featuring Belle was inside, one that we have actually seen at the Disney Store. And, to top off an already perfect box, there as a shiny, gold, rose featured tiara in the box. It’s a beautiful tiara that it made out to metal, with combs attached that keep it secure. It has it all: sparkles, roses, gems, and it’s gold. It perfectly encapsulates what I believe Belle would wear.

Another fantastic thing included in the box is the book! I figured it would be an instruction pamphlet, but upon opening it, I discovered there are stories, descriptions of what you received, games, and even guidelines on how to create a story.

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but I love the campaign that Disney is currently running called “Dream Big, Princess.” They encourage every girl to dream big and give examples of Princesses that did the same. There’s nothing I want more for my daughter to be strong, resilient, and, yes, dream big — this box is a great way to reinforce that. Your child will adore this Pley box and I encourage a conversation with your child about how they can dream big, just like their favorite princess.

Hurry over to Pley to order your first box here — you won’t regret it!
