We live in a world with all kinds of new ideas and technology. A lot of girls are wondering where they fit in and now, luckily, they have someone with answers!
Disney Digital Network is proud to partner with YouTube Red to debut the new series Hyperlinked, featuring the new girl group L2M. Follow Juliette and her friends as they discover that all their personal talents and strengths can come together to help girls everywhere from questions and issues about school, to growing up and learning how to be yourself in an ever complicated world. The series is centered around the friends creating a website called “Miss O and Friend’s Website” that the friends create, code, and feature content made all by themselves. And, because L2M is the featured cast of the show, you can expect fun songs and dances!
This is a cute show that I can really stand behind! In fact, I actually watched it with my daughter even though she’s a little younger than the key demographic. I love that this show features girls that are not only diverse, but they can see past each others faults and find love for each other in their strengths even though there are miscommunications, which is something I think all kids can learn from. I also really admired that each character has a talent in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. I think many girls can feel like they are a geek or nerd if they have a knack for something that may appear less popular, but these girls show you that you can do what you love, thrive, and make friends that support you no matter what.
What’s even more impressive is that there are many experts working and advising on the show, including Google Science Media Team, Geena Davis Institute on Gender Media, Kimberly Bryant (Founder and CEO, Black Girls CODE), Rosalind Wiseman (Best selling author of Queen Bees & Wannabees), Jess Weiner (CEO, Talk to Jess LLC) and Michael CohenPhD (President, Michael Cohen Group LLC (MCG)). This team served as advisers on the series and worked close with the production team to make sure that girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) were being portrayed accurately. Because each girl is modeled after one of the STEM categories, they wanted to ensure that they always modeled positive messages for the characters and their relationships with each other and their families.
You can catch this 10 episode series now on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app for YouTube Red subscribers. The series will be available through Disney’s YouTube channel as part of the Disney Digital Network. All viewers will be able to watch one episode for free while the remaining episodes will be available exclusively for YouTube Red subscribers.
