Product Review: The Disney Collection by Scentsy

I’ve been enjoying Scentsy wax bars for over a decade and I’ve been a Disney fan since… well, I can’t remember ever not being a Disney fan. That’s why I was so excited when Scentsy announced their Disney partnership last July with The Disney Collection. The full collection debuted on September 1st and we were ready with our helpful shopping guide to make sense of it all. Now that my order has arrived, I bring you an honest review of the scents and products in the collection.

Scentsy Bars

“Your Pal, Mickey”

“Green apple, orange blossom, and fresh spring air,” says Scentsy of “Your Pal, Mickey.” To me, it smells like a fresh apple with a splash of citrus, almost like a refreshing fruit punch. It’s a nice clean scent and I love it as a Scentsy Bar of wax cubes to put in your warmer. 4 out of 5 stars.

“Love & Kisses, Minnie”

“Red berries, fresh apricot, and creamy vanilla.” The berries are the dominant flavor, it specifically smells like raspberry and blueberry. The apricot is apparent if you’re looking for it, but the vanilla is very faint. It’s a perfect compliment to “Your Pal, Mickey” and I have both burning in two rooms, allowing them to dance together in the air as you transition between them. These two scents together make a perfect pair. 4 out of 5 stars.

“Hundred Acre Wood”

“Cotton blossoms, wild jasmine, and sweet, cozy vanilla.” WHY DOESN’T THIS SMELL LIKE HUNNY!?!?!? The wax is purple and I thought I was smelling lilac as a result. Initial disappointment aside, it’s a very pleasant and light scent. 3 out of 5 stars.

“Just Keep Swimming”

“Blue ocean mist, cucumber water, and salted driftwood.” Remember the original version of Soarin’ when you would fly over surfers? This smells EXACTLY LIKE THAT with a splash of cucumber. Honestly, this is in my top two of The Disney Collection. 5 out of 5 stars.

“Cinderella: Happily Ever After”

“Gardenia, forget-me-not, and frosted lemon.” Long ago, I had a Scentsy Bar called “Gardenia” and it smelled like old lady perfume, I threw it out. This, however, is much more pleasant. It’s a lighter floral scent, not overbearing at all. I will say it’s my least favorite of the entire collection, but it’s by no means bad. If you like floral scents, you’ll enjoy this. 3 out of 5 stars.

“Ariel: Under the Sea”

“Emerald water, crisp green apple, and blue hibiscus.” Mickey’s scent also contains green apple, but the two are nothing alike. In fact, I don’t smell apple in this at all, but it does smell oceanic in a delightful way. It’s clean and refreshing and I love it. 4 out of 5 stars.

“Bell: Enchanted Rose”

“Rose petals, passion fruit, and sandalwood.” With rose listed as the first ingredient, I expected this to be horrible. It’s not the top note, which is definitely the passion fruit, which I mistook for lemon when I first smelled it. It’s absolutely lovely and sort of reminds me of the lobby of the Grand Floridian. 4 out of 5 stars.

“Mulan: True to Your Heart”

“Plum blossom, white tea, and redwood.” Okay, I don’t know what any of those things smell like individually, which is what makes this one so spectacular. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before and it couldn’t be any better. This is my favorite scent in the collection, slightly edging out “Just Keep Swimming.” 5 out of 5 stars.

Bonus for the entire collection, the custom artwork is gorgeous!

Scent Circles

Scent Circles are Scentsy’s answer to the traditional car air freshener. These come in Mickey, Minnie, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, and Mulan. They perfectly replicate the scents from the Scentsy Bars along with artwork from the covers.

Mickey and Minnie both have the same image reversed on the front and back, with one side offering a pastel version. The Disney Princess brand, however, are all shaped like Cinderella’s pumpkin coach and each feature a symbol that represents the character on the back. This was an enchanting touch! If you like traditional air fresheners for your car, these are a must! 5 out of 5 stars.

Scent Paks

Scent Paks are small bags full of scented beans and are available in Mickey, Minnie, and Winnie the Pooh. These are a great way to add fragrance to a closet or drawer and are also compatible with Scentsy Buddies (more on that in a bit). One thing to know is that these are meant to be smelled from a distance, so they are much more abrasive if you smell them at close range. I learned that the hard way. Still, I highly recommend these if you want to brighten up your closets (or are buying Scentsy Buddies, which come with one). 4 out of 5 stars.

Scentsy Buddies

I was not expecting these to be as adorable as they are. Scentsy Buddies are stuffed animals that have a pouch for a Scent Pak. The plushies are soft and cuddly, with corrugated ears, arms and legs. My favorite thing about them is the plastic pupils of their eyes, which harken back to the way stuffed animals were made when I was young. Almost immediately after putting in the Scent Pak, I could smell it through the front of the plush. An hour late, they actually add fragrance to the room in a perimeter of about 5 feet. Scent Paks are reported to last between two and three months according to the Internet. I’ll know for sure in 2-3 months. The only downside is that they aren’t cheap, costing $40 a piece. With so many great Mickey plushes in the world, these have a lot of tough competition. 4 out of 5 stars.

Scentsy Buddy Clips

“Just Keep Swimming,” one of the greatest scents of all time, can go anywhere you go with these Nemo and Dory Scentsy Buddy Clips! Like the Scentsy Buddies, I found these to be overpriced ($18!!!). However, they are top quality and much bigger than they appear. They come in a nice jar that keeps the scent fresh until you’re ready to use it. They feature reflective materials and a velvet-like fur and are filled with fluff and beans, presumably the same kind inside a Scent Pak. The scent will inevitably run out though and there isn’t a way to replace it. 3 out of 5 stars.

Final Thoughts

I love Scentsy, I love Disney, and I couldn’t be happier that they’ve finally joined forces. I was blown away by “Just Keep Swimming” and “Mulan: True to Your Heart.” It was fun expanding my horizon and trying new products from Scentsy. Everything they make is high quality and I’m excited to see where this partnership goes in the future. My fingers are crossed that they start making Disney themed warmers. More Princess-themed sets seem like a given, but I’d like to see them think outside the box a little more. Maybe even some Disney Parks inspired scents…
