Toy Review – “Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse” by Hasbro

Sony Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse may not be a Disney film, but it’s based on a property that Disney owns and Disney gets all of the consumer products benefits. This includes the longstanding Marvel deal with Hasbro and they have a collection of great toys for kids that make it easy to continue the multi-dimensional action anytime. Hasbro was kind enough to share a sample of some of these products with Laughing Place.

Spider-Ham Spin Vision Action Figure

My favorite toy in the collection is the Spin Vision Spider-Ham. He’s 8.5 inches tall and is a perfect toy for ages 4 and up, but also makes a great desk tchotchke for adult fans. Similar to the Mighty Mugz figure series, you press Spider-Ham’s left ear to change his eyes. No batteries are required and the details are great, including his curly queue tail. Spider-Ham retails for $14.99 and is available from Shop Disney and Amazon.

Action Figures

Four action figures are available based on Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Marvel’s Prowler. In my box of toys, I got Spider-Gwen and Prowler and this series is play-line, retailing for $9.99 each. They are articulated at the neck, shoulders, elbows, and hips and each toy comes with an action accessory. Spider-Gwen comes with a web action piece that can clip on to either wrist, while Prowler comes with boost blasts.

Miles Morales Hero FX Mask

Kids can pretend to be Miles Morales with the Hero FX Mask. A button at the top left corner turns the mask on and off. From that point, motions will activate dialogue and sound effects that will make any child feel like the real Miles Morales. This mask retails for $14.99.

Spider-Noir Web Blaster

Traditional web shooters have been available non-stop since the 1990’s and it’s a product that is classic, but hard to innovate. The Spider-Noir Web Blaster is exactly what is needed to change it up and make it feel special again. Rather than strapping on to your wrist, you hold it in your hand and pull the trigger. You can fill up the water bottle to squirt water, or you can insert the included can of web fluid (refills sold separately) to shoot the blue strands that resemble silly string. Rather than shooting in one continuous spray like with the web blaster, you shoot this one in short blasts and it’s a lot of fun. This toy retails for $19.99 and is available from Shop Disney and Amazon.

Final Thoughts

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an amazing film and kids are going to want to live in Miles Morales’ world a little longer. These amazing toys from Hasbro make it easy to bounce between Spider-Man dimensions and include some characters that you don’t often see merchandise for. With Christmas just days away, these make a great last-minute gift idea for the young Spider-Man fan in your life.
