The Best Disney April Fool’s Day Gags from Around the Internet

Did you hear your favorite attraction is closing down forever? Or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened early and you missed it? Or maybe there’s new merchandise that sounds a little too good to be true? On any day but today, these are the kind of headlines that might send the Disney fan community into a tizzy, but check the calendar: it’s April 1.

April’s Fool’s Day can be a lot of fun or kind of a drag, depending on what kind of mood you’re in. But one thing’s for sure: Disney fans sure knows how to push each other’s buttons when it comes to gently mocking our favorite pastime. But of course this day is all in good fun and (thankfully) only comes once a year. Here’s a roundup of some of the best jibes, gags, and goofs from around the world of Disney on the internet this April Fool’s Day.

The official Walt Disney World Twitter account got in on the action by introducing Snears, and who wouldn’t want a pair? Snacks + Ears = Snears. Get it? Just try not to sneeze.

Then the main Disney Twitter feed asked followers to find 626 differences between two still images from Lilo & Stitch that appear to be identical. Hopefully there weren’t too many people trying to overanalyze these pictures.

The Muppet fansite Muppet Mindset got fans’ hopes up by announcing a revival of The Muppet Show heading to streaming service Disney+. While similar rumors have abounded for months, this was a little too on-the-nose to be taken seriously.

ThinkGeek introduced a Mighty Mjolnir Mailbox for enthusiasts of Marvel’s Thor. Since this is actually kind of cool looking, we can’t help but wonder if it will eventually become a reality, like the website’s Tauntaun sleeping bag from some years ago.

But perhaps the most clever bit of Disney merch that’s not really available this April 1 is Walt Life’s box of air from the parks. It’s a pitch-perfect parody of some of the personal Disney shopper trend. $1,000 a month is a steal!

The Haunted Mansion set to be rethemed to The Haunted Mansion Movie: The Ride? It’s not completely unheard of. Just ask Johnny Depp!

Instagram user Jason Sasaki knows that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the most fertile ground to prank Disney fans about at the moment, and he used that opportunity to the fullest by faking a reservation to get into the highly anticipated new land on opening day. The tongue-in-cheek confirmation number gives it away.

Along the same lines, Disney Dining announced a hard-ticketed preview event for Galaxy’s Edge, but readers started to catch on when they realized the party would only last 77 minutes. The news article only gets more ridiculous from there.

Finally from the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge front, Twitter user Clint Gamache half convinced us that FastPass reservations were now open for the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction. That is, until we remembered that Smuggler’s Run won’t have FastPasses when it first opens.

This one’s a fairly subtle in-joke for Disney and Marvel fans, if we do say so ourselves.

Happy April Fool’s Day from Laughing Place, and don’t believe anything you read on the internet until tomorrow!
