2010 Shareholder Meeting Update #2 – Bob Iger

Bob Iger

Iger speaks: Lucky to be stewards of some of the world’s most well loved and best known brands. Very proud of what the Cast Members accomplish every day doing a remarkable job of exceeding guests expectations. Last year was very challenging but positive in many ways. Big steps to strengthen ability to create great original brands. Notably acquired Marvel. Another big step – initial go ahead from China to develop and new theme park in Shanghai. The country confronted a severe economic downturn last year. Disney maintained their strategy while reducing spending, streamling and innovating. Strategic objectivess are clear and consistant – creating high quality content,  innovate technology to make it better and more accesible and make Disney a more prominent global provider in the future. Confident this is the best strategy for delivering term value to shareholders.

Pleased that Up won the Academy Awards for animated feature and musical score – a tribute to Pixar’s consistancy. Audiences embraced Princess and the Frog and Tiana is one of most popular princesses. Alice in Wonderland is another example of great storytelling, memoable chars and artist excellence. It is unleashed great creativity across the company. Increible excitement about next animated film Toy Story 3.

A clip from Toy Story 3 is shown to the audience.
