Xana O'Neill Named Managing Editor for ABC News Digital

ABC News VP of Multi-Platform Newsgathering Subrata De sent the following note this morning announcing that Xana O’Neill has been promoted to  Managing Editor for ABC News Digital

Team,

Good news to share with you today.

Xana O’Neill has been promoted to Managing Editor for ABC News Digital, overseeing digital content for desktop and mobile platforms.

Over the past year, Xana has helped drive the energy and momentum behind our digital efforts. She’s been instrumental in our coverage on a number of breaking news events, including MH370, the 2014 Sochi Olympics and most recently the World Cup. In addition, she has overseen our efforts to source video from the field, allowing us to create compelling digital originals that drive millions of people to our multiple platforms. Xana has also worked closely with the digital and social media teams, shaping the Deep Dives that so adeptly showcase the exemplary reporting of our teams.

Before joining ABC News, Xana was the Executive Editor for broadcast and digital news at NPR’s New York affiliate. During her time there, she spearheaded the station’s award-winning Hurricane Sandy coverage and led the newsroom during the Sandy Hook school shooting and the Boston Marathon bombings. She was also part of the team recognized with a prestigious DuPont award for a series on policing in New York City – a project that earned her an ONA award as well. Prior to NPR, Xana worked at NBC News, managing special projects, national news and entertainment across their online platforms.

There has never been greater opportunity to feature and share the superb storytelling and reporting from everyone here at ABC News.  Xana will be your advocate and champion. A true team player.

Please join me in congratulating Xana on her new role.

Great days ahead, for all of us and for One ABC News.
