Nine Cases of the Measles Linked to Visits to the Disneyland Resort

The AP is reporting that seven Californians and two people in Utah have confirmed cases of the measles after having visited the Disneyland Resort last month. The seven Californians were from different parts of the state. All who contracted the disease visited the Disneyland Resort between December 15 and December 20. Three other Californians are suspected of also having contracted the disease. Officials say that they likely got the airborne illness at one of the parks then adding that people with measles can be infectious for nine days. According to the report, “Disney officials said they had not received any reports of staff contracting measles. Park officials are working with the health department to provide any necessary information, said Dr. Pamela Hymel, chief medical officer for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.”
