Promos for Sunday night’s Secrets and Lies season finale promised viewers they would finally know who killed Tom Murphy. However, those who wanted to get the full story needed to head to their computers or mobile devices.
During the show’s credits, an ad directed fans to Cornell: Confidential on ABC.com. Once there, viewers could watch a four-and-a-half minute epilogue scene entitled “14 Months Later” that added an extra twist to the aired program.
This isn’t the first time ABC or other networks have saved exclusive content for the web. In fact, the Cornell: Confidential site features other deleted scenes from the surprise hit series. However, it’s rare that a scene that could potentially alter the events of the preceding 60 minutes (and entire 10-episode season) is pushed to a network website.
With last week’s episode of Secrets and Lies being its highest rated of the season, there’s a strong chance of a season two on the horizon. If that’s the case, maybe this “confidential” epilogue will make it to prime time.
