The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Disney has removed the Third Flag of the Confederacy from the Hall of Flags at Epcot’s American Adventure attraction. The flag exhibit features more than 40 flags that are part of the United States history.
While the flag displayed was not the more commonly represented “Battle Flag,” the flag exhibited did feature the “Southern Cross” symbol in the top right hand corner.
Many view the symbol as a sign of racism while other’s claim it is a sign of southern pride. The debate has renewed in the last several weeks and has resulted in the removal of the symbol in several instances.
