Jake Gyllenhaal reveals childhood upset over Disney’s The Mighty Ducks

According to Vanity Fair, Jake Gyllenhaal revealed to Howard Stern that he was offered the role of Charlie in Disney’s The Mighty Ducks in 1992. His parents turned down to project on his behalf over concerns that he would miss too much school during filming. He remembers crying on the kitchen counter over the part, saying “You guys are crazy” to his parents. In retrospect, he feels they made the right decision based on seeing how other childhood stars grew up. The role ended up going to Joshua Jackson instead.
