ESPN Pulls Content from YouTube

ESPN has pulled their content from YouTube due to the recently announced YouTube Red ad-free subscription service.

YouTube has said that content providers must participate in the YouTube Red program if they want to continue have the content available on the ad-supported free service.

A YouTube spokesperson said that ESPN was not part of YouTube Red due to rights and legal issues.

ESPN said in a statement, “ESPN is not currently part of the Red service. Content previously available on the free YouTube service will be available across ESPN digital properties.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney has signed on to the YouTube Red service but that ESPN was not included in that deal.
