Disney Invests $200 Million in Vice Media

Disney has invested $200 million in Vice Media, the youth media company and digital content creation studio. This revelation comes as A+E Networks, which Disney owns half of, is partnering with Vice Media to rebrand H2 as VICELAND(working title).

Launching in early 2016, VICELAND will be distributed in approximately 70 million homes, and will feature hundreds of hours of completely new programming developed and produced entirely in-house by Vice Media.

Vice has gained popularity as the company has found success reaching young consumers who may not be consuming media through traditional channels.

Outside of the cable network, there is no word on how Disney may partner with Vice to take advantage of their investment.
