Disney Reaches Settlement on Primeval Whirl Death

Disney has reached a settlement with the family of Russell Roscoe who died after a Primeval Whirl vehicle struck him in 2011. The mechanic was spraying water on the track as part of a refurbishment to test systems such as brakes.

“The case has been resolved to the parties’ satisfaction,” the family attorney Brian Denney told the Orlando Sentinel. “The terms of the settlement are confidential.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Disney after an investigation into the incident. Disney paid $47,250 in fines, according to OSHA.
