Brian Grazer Says a Remake of “Splash” is Happening

Back in 1984, Splash starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah was not only a huge hit but also marked the first release of Disney’s Touchstone Pictures. Now Brian Grazer — a famed producer who is also holds a story credit on Splash — says a remake of the film is currently in the works.

As SlashFilm reports, during a recent interview with CNBC, Grazer said this remake will be from the point of view of the mermaid (as was originally intended in the treatment for the film then called “Wet”). However, he refused to give up the extra twist this version will contain or name the star that’s apparently attached:

Directed by Ron Howard, Splash was made for $8 million dollars and earned nearly $70 million at the box office. No word on when this new version of the film might hit theatres or if Disney will once again be distributing.
