In Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Racoon and his best friend Groot reside somewhere in outer space, hopping from planet to planet and flying among the stars. Now the two characters have inspired a new NASA mission patch for payloads headed to the international space station. The announcement was made by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) last week and reported on by Gizmodo.
The patch, which was designed by Marvel artist Juan Doe, is only the beginning for the Marvel/NASA partnership. CASIS has also announced that a STEM-based educational initiative involving Rocket and Groot will also be launched in the near future.
