Michael Giacchino Will Now Score “Rogue One”

It looks likes the upcoming Star Wars spinoff Rogue One will be getting a new composer due to the reshoots it underwent this summer. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Giacchino will take over scoring duties from Alexandre Desplat who is no longer available due to scheduling conflicts.

Desplat had been working on the film but reshoots and new edits necessitated additional or reworked music. Meanwhile, Giacchino is no stranger to the Walt Disney Company having scored films under the Disney, Pixar, and Marvel banners as well as contributing to Disney theme park attractions such as Space Mountain.

Despite the apparent issues, Rogue One is slated to be released December 18th.
