Is a Netflix Revival of “Girl Meets World” in the Cards? (Probably Not)

A few weeks ago, news broke that Disney Channel had officially decided to cancel Girl Meets World. Even before that important date, fans had been petitioning streaming services such as Netflix to pick up the show in the event that Disney passed while others suggested the show move to Freeform instead. So what are the odds that Netflix — which has become known for reviving beloved shows (Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls) and buying into nostalgia (Fuller House) — gives Girl Meets World a season four?

According to Deadline, there may be a chance… albeit a slim one. Although there have apparently been no formal talks between the show’s team and the streaming company, creator Michael Jacobs has hinted at a VOD continuance of the series, saying, “there are talks underway, but we’re at the very very beginning stages.” Meanwhile the article also reports that a move to Freeform is “not an option.”

Also supporting the theory of a Netflix move are the deals Disney currently has in place with the company. In addition to Disney titles streaming on the service soon after their home video release, the first two seasons of Girl Meets World can be watched on the site as of now. Netflix is famous for keeping their viewership numbers a secret, so for all we know those episodes could be doing very well, which might persuade them to greenlight more. Still, with as little info as we have now, it’s probably not worth getting your hopes up.

So would you want to see a season four (and beyond?) of Girl Meets World on Netflix?
