Walt Disney World and Central Florida Under Tornado Watch

NOTE: Multiple updates have been made to this post — see below

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch and severe storm watch for much of Central Florida, including the Walt Disney World Resort area. In response, the resort has tweeted out their own warning asking guests to follow local media reports and refer to Cast Members if assistance is needed:

Currently the watch is issued until 10 p.m. EST. The main threats include the possibility of powerful tornadoes as well as ping pong ball-sized hail.

UPDATE (9:00 p.m. EST): The National Weather Service just tweeted this:

UPDATE (7:55 p.m. EST): Tornado warning now to the north and east of WDW, but further south than the previous alert. This one is in effect until 8:30 p.m.:

UPDATE (7:20 p.m. EST): Another tornado warning issued for the Orlando area, but still north of the resort itself:

UPDATE (7:05 p.m. EST): A severe thunderstorm warning, including the potential for hail and strong gusts of wind, has been issued for the Walt Disney World area:

UPDATE (6:00 p.m. EST): A tornado warning has now been issued for the areas north of the Walt Disney World resort. However, the resort itself is not part of the warning at this time.
