Disney Theatrical Productions has launched The Official Disney on Broadway Podcast, a six-episode pilot series that will include interviews and behind-the-scenes stories of Disney’s stage musicals.
The first episode was released February 13, and can be downloaded free from iTunes.
The first episode takes a deep dive into Newsies in advance of this week’s Fathom Event. First, they chat with actors Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Kara Lindsay, and Ben Ben Fankhauser. Then they chat with the show’s director, Jeff Calhoun. The podcast closes out with Thomas Shumacher, the show’s producer and President of Disney Theatrical Productions.
“Through in-depth conversations with cast and creators, the podcast will reveal untold stories of the creation of these world class productions,” the company said in a statement.
Hosted by Patrick Hinds, creator, producer, and host of the podcasts Broadway Backstory and Theater People, the series will release a new episode for download every two weeks.
Upcoming episodes of The Official Disney on Broadway Podcast include focuses on Aladdin, The Lion King, Freaky Friday, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The free podcast is available now for download on iTunes.
