In light of the tragic event in Las Vegas, Marvel and Netflix have decided to pull their planned Punisher panel at New York Comic Con that was scheduled to occur this weekend. The Punisher is a Marvel character that resorts to no-mercy violence after his family was killed. Marvel and Netflix released the following joint statement:
“We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas. After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy.”
Netflix had not yet announced a release date for the series that is spinning off of the second season of Daredevil. They have stated that the series will debut sometime in 2017.
