ESPN Head John Skipper Reportedly Extends Contract Through 2021

The Big Lead is reporting that Disney has extended the contract of ESPN President John Skipper through 2021. His contract was set to run through the end of 2018. Skipper has been ESPN’s President since 2012 and has been with the worldwide leader in sports since 1997.

ESPN has been challenged lately by subscriber losses as well as a series of political issues that have brought the organization controversy. Additional layoffs are reported to be happening before the end of the year with around 100 ESPN employees set to lose their jobs.

ESPN is hoping to turn things around with the launch of their ESPN Plus direct-to-consumer service that will offer sports that are not available on the linear ESPN networks.
