While not based on the announced transaction between Marvel’s owner Disney and 21st Century Fox. The FOX broadcasting network has renewed Marvel’s The Gifted for a second season. The family adventure series is set in Marvel’s “X-Men” universe.
In the upcoming two-hour season finale, “eXtraction/X-roads,” airing Monday, January 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Dr. Campbell (guest star Garret Dillahunt) attends the Humanity Today summit, attempting to take the Hound program national, while some of the team at Mutant HQ go on a dangerous mission to stop his efforts. Then, the Mutant HQ comes under attack. With everything to lose, alliances shift and relationships are put to the test.
There are questions about if the series will continue on FOX once the transaction is finalized, but since it is still 12-18 months away, the teams at Marvel Television and FOX are operating in a “business as usual” mode.
