Bob Iger, Katy Perry, and More Help Minnie Celebrate Walk of Fame Star

Today is officially Minnie Mouse Day in Hollywood. That’s because, after nearly 90 years in the industry, the first lady of the Walt Disney Company received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the morning’s event, Minnie was joined by Mickey while guests including Disney CEO Bob Iger and American Idol judge Katy Perry spoke on some of Minnie’s many accomplishments. Model and actress Heidi Klum was also in attendance.

Wearing an outfit that evoked Minnie’s signature look, Perry complimented the mouse’s style — a connection that Disney has been pushing, especially with today being National Polka Dot Day. She also mentioned how exciting it is to see Minnie, be it in Anaheim, Orlando, Paris, or Tokyo. Meanwhile, Iger highlighted Minnie’s role in 1928’s Steamboat Willie, for which Mickey got most of the credit. He went on to say that Minnie has since starred in more than 70 productions and, while she may play a damsel in distress from time to time, “Minnie can hold her own in any situation.”

Minnie Mouse’s star can be found near the world famous El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
