Passenger Barred from Sailing on Disney Magic Claims Armed Guard Intimidated Her

A would-be Disney Magic passenger is complaining about how she and her family were treated after she was barred from boarding the ship. As ABC Local 10 in Miami reports, Emily Jackson was all set to take a vacation aboard the Disney Cruise Line Ship, but was prevented from embarking due to her pregnancy. Disney Cruise Line’s policy — which is an industry-wide policy — states women over 24 weeks pregnant before or during their trip will be refused on board due to safety concerns. The group of 10 had boarded the ship and were waiting for room keys when Cast Members questioned them. Although Jackson’s doctor had given her the okay to travel (including on an airplane), Disney remained firm with their policy. The family was escorted away from the dock by a Miami-Dade officer who Jackson claims laughed at their misfortune. They say they had to wait nearly two hours for their luggage to be retrieved and returned to them. Disney has reportedly offered to reimburse the family their cruise fares but not other vacation costs.
