Variety is reporting that ABC is considering a spinoff of The Middle which just concluded its nine season run on the network. The show would reportedly feature Eden Sher as Sue Heck who was most recently seen in college studying hotel management, but in a flash forward was seen marrying her neighbor Sean.
ABC did not comment on the report.
The show, like The Middle, would come from Warner Bros. Television and creators Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Helaine.
The spinoff could be seen as a way to fill the hole left by Roseanne’s sudden cancellation. Both Roseanne and The Middle were about Midwestern families trying to make ends meet.
ABC already has ordered a spinoff of The Goldbergs which is slated to debut midseason and titled Schooled. Station 19 is also currently airing and is the second spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy.
