Starting today, two attractions at Disneyland Park are undergoing refurbishments: Sleeping Beauty Castle and Tomorrowland’s Astro Orbitor. As always, Disney manages to sprinkle pixie dust throughout the park even when things don’t feel magical. When the construction walls go up, fans can be sure that something good is happening.

Astro Orbitor

  • Starting today the Astro Orbitor will be closed for refurbishment.
  • According to a sign posted outside the attraction, “departing flights will resume in Spring 2019. Please enjoy our other Tomorrowland attractions.”
  • During the refurbishment, fans can enjoy a brief history of the attraction with pictures of every iteration of the classic ride.
  • Additionally, there are also pictures of the different versions found at Disney Parks around the world.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

  • Construction walls are now up around Sleeping Beauty Castle as the park’s icon undergoes refurbishment.
  • Disney’s website notes, “From January 17, 2019 through spring 2019, Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough will be closed for refurbishment. From January 7 through spring, the exterior of Sleeping Beauty Castle will also undergo refurbishment. Please check back for updates.”
  • According to Orange County Register, the refurbishment is to reroof of the castle and replace the fiber-reinforced plastic on the turrets.
  • Signs posted on the construction wall indicate that even though the Castle has had minor adjustments, it will, “forever retain her famous color scheme of cool grey walls with warm pink towers and bright blue roofs.
