Virgin Trains Reportedly Planning to Make a Stop at Walt Disney World

Virgin Trains is reportedly hoping to build in a stop at Walt Disney World for their train that will travel from South Florida to Central Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

  • The train is slated to run from South Florida to an Orlando station near the Orlando International Airport.
  • Another stop is being planned for the Sun Rail’s Meadow Wood station, connecting the two trains.
  • The two newly proposed stops are planned to open at the same time as the Orlando airport station, though nothing is set just yet.
  • Virgin has recently been in talks with landowners in the Walt Disney World area in their attempts to build a station near the most magical place on Earth.
  • Patrick Goddard, president of Virgin Trains, said they signed a letter of intent with Disney last year.
  • Virgin officials say their planning to start on 30 to 36 months of construction “imminently.”

What they’re saying:

  • Virgin Trains president Patrick Goddard: “It’s our expectation to get it done and to build out to Disney. It is entirely conceivable that that can happen with the delivery of the Orlando station.”
  • Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group: “So Orlando is very important to us. Connecting Orlando to Miami is a real dream. It will transform the lives of many people.”
