After a closure due to the pandemic, Mary Poppins is making a return to the West End in August 2021.
What’s Happening:
- WhatsOnStage has reported that Mary Poppins is coming back to the West End on August 7, 2021, at the Prince Edward Theatre. The show will run through February 13, 2022.
- The London revival debuted on October 23rd, 2019, and had to suspend performances on March 17th, 2020.
- Before the shutdown, a new live cast recording was created, which was released digitally in November.
- The show will return with Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp set in the leading roles of Mary Poppins and Bert, with full casting to be announced soon.
- The stage adaptation of Mary Poppins combines the classic Sherman Brothers songs from the Disney film with a story that adheres closer to P.L. Travers’ books, featuring new songs and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
- Tickets are on sale now for shows starting August 7.
