Universal Orlando Resort Becomes First Major Orlando Park To Increase Starting Wage to $15.00 Per Hour

Universal Orlando Resort has become the first major Orlando theme park to increase their starting base rate to $15.00 per hour for new Team Members, with wage increases for current Team Members, marking the largest single wage increase in the resort’s history.

What’s Happening:

  • Universal Orlando Resort today announced it is increasing its starting base rate to $15 per hour – up from $13 – and giving more than 18,000 current team members a raise based on the new rates and their time with the company.
  • Today’s announcement represents the single-largest wage increase in Universal Orlando history.  And while $15 is Universal’s new starting base rate, the company is increasing start rates for many other positions based on job requirements.  The new rates will become effective June 27 and will impact full-time and part-time hourly positions as well as entry-level salaried roles.
  • Universal Orlando currently is hiring thousands of full-time and part-time team members for the summer – all of whom can be hired now and have their start rates automatically increased to the new rate when it becomes effective. Jobs are available in all areas, including Attractions, Aquatics, Food Services, Culinary, Merchandise, Custodial, Warehouse, Entrance Operations, Call Center Sales – and more.
  • Universal Orlando provides a fun, fast-paced work environment for Team Members with a culture of inclusion and great benefits including health insurance plans for both full-time and part-time workers, educational benefits, complimentary guest passes, exclusive discounts – and more.
  • In a letter from Bill Davis, Chief Operating Officer of Universal Orlando Resort, he told Team Members, “Today, I want to take a break from COVID and am excited to share with you some great news. Effective June 27, 2021, we will be increasing our starting base rate to $15 per hour, as well as increasing many of our starting rates across the business, up to and including entry-level salaried roles. In addition, many Team Members will receive a raise based on the new rates and their time with the company. We will provide more details on how this will personally affect you in the next few weeks. Our Team Members, current and future, are the not-so-secret keys to our success. It’s Team Members like you who propel our brand forward. Every day, you bring your unique passion to work. You help create memories for millions of Guests. This is why we strive to be a place where you can shine, where you can feel part of a truly Universal family. This also is why we continually evaluate our compensation, perks, and benefits programs, and why we remain focused on Team Member satisfaction to provide the best work environment we can. It’s right there in our mission: we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where our Team Members are proud to work.”

What They’re Saying:

  • John Sprouls, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Universal Parks & Resorts: “We are excited about our future and we want team members who will be excited to be part of that journey. This is about taking care of both our current team members and those who will be joining our team.  We know a great guest experience begins with our team members – and we will continue to provide the best work experience we can.”
