Comic-Con@Home: Cast and Creators of “Duncanville” Discuss the Upcoming Second Season

20th Television Animation’s Duncanville is about to begin its second season and the cast and creators of the series got together to talk about it during their own Comic-Con@Home panel.

  • The panel opened up by showing the audience a clip form the upcoming second season, featuring an altercation between Duncan and his father Jack.
  • Moderator Michael Schneider then confirmed that Duncanville has already been renewed for a third season.
  • The panel featured:
  • Executive producers Mike Scully & Julie Thacker-Scully
  • Executive producer and star Amy Poehler
  • Ty Burrell
  • Riki Lindhome
  • Joy Osmanski
  • Yassir Lester
  • Betsy Sodaro
  • Burrell, who plays Jack on the show, talked about the differences between himself and his character both as a man and as a father. He was also asked if he would prefer to have Jack or Phil Dunphy, his character on Modern Family, as his father. His answer was, quite easily, Phil.
  • We also got a second clip in which Jack tried to come to terms with losing his signature ponytail.
  • Osmanski, who plays Jing, talked about how playing a five-year-old was not too much of a stretch for her. She also expressed her excitement for an upcoming episode in which she sings.
  • Sodaro and Lester talked about their connections to their characters, two of Duncan’s friends, and how similar they are to the characters they’ve brought to life.
  • Lindhome, who portrays Kimberly, talked about how her mother watches the show and calls her after every episode to tell her how much she was like her character in junior high.
  • There was also a Kimberly-focused clip in which she gets to the dentist to get her braces removed.
  • Poehler, who plays both Duncan and his mother, talked about what it’s like to create those scenes between the two. She explained that Annie is so high-energy and Duncan is the exact opposite, so she actually tried not to bounce back and forth between the two when recording.
  • The whole crew talked about some of the upcoming guest stars, including:
  • Jason Schwartzman
  • Stephen King
  • Finn Wolfhard
  • And others
  • Finally, the group answered some fan questions regarding crossover potential, Duncan’s relationship with Mia and more.
