Matsuriza Traditional Japanese Taiko Drummers Set To Return to EPCOT Friday, Oct. 1st

The traditional Taiko drum performers, Matsuriza, are set to return to EPCOT’s Japan pavilion on Friday, October 1st, after over a year of absence from the theme park.

What’s Happening:

  • Matsuriza, the traditional Taiko drummers that perform in EPCOT’s Japan pavilion have announced their return via their official Facebook page.
  • According to their announcement, they will be performing in the pavilion once again starting Friday, October 1st, with performances on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays, with no shows on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
  • Shows will occur each of these days at 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30.
  • Back in March of 2020, as the theme parks of the Walt Disney World Resort were getting ready to close due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, three different entertainment groups (including Matsuriza) announced that these would be their final performances and it was unclear (at the time) if they were going to be able to return.
  • At the time, Matsuriza had posted to their Facebook page: “We’re deeply saddened to announce that tomorrow, Sunday 3/15/20 will be Matsuriza’s last day performing at EPCOT indefinitely. We had a fantastic 25 year run on the pagoda stage working with some of the best managers and tech team on property. Performing at the Japan Pavilion has been an honor, representing our heritage and culture to millions of guests from all over the world. It really has been a dream come true and we’re very heartbroken to see it come to an end so suddenly. We are beyond grateful to the Walt Disney World Co. for giving us the most amazing opportunity of a lifetime.
  • And to our fans, YOU are what we will miss the most. Thank you for all of the love and support you have have given us throughout these years. It is our biggest hope that one day Disney will bring us back. Until then, sayonara. Domo arigatou gozaimashita. Otsukaresama deshita”
  • Thankfully, their announcement marks their triumphant return, with their post reading: “We are so excited and grateful to come back for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration! All your continuous love and support during our time away has been sincerely appreciated and has kept our spirits high. Looking forward to seeing all your beautiful faces again. PLEASE COME SAY HI!!! We cannot wait to see you and perform for you at our Pagoda home once again. This will truly be the world's most magical celebration!”
