Universal Orlando has taken a jab at Walt Disney World with a new gag in their Mardi Gras tribute store.
What’s Happening:
- Universal Studios Florida has re-opened their Mardi Gras tribute store, this year themed to the “Legends of the Bayou.”
- Within the store, a series of dioramas allow guests to take a peek at some of these mythical creatures.
- For the diorama highlighting a yeti, a nearby post-it note takes the opportunity to make fun of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
- The note checks off that the yeti is animated, but looks to set a reminder to “call Joe for parts”.
- Of course, this references the infamous “Disco Yeti” within Expedition: Everest that hasn’t been operating for years.
- The post-it’s mention of Joe references DIsney Legend and former Imagineer Joe Rhode, the face of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
- Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras Tribute Store is open now through March 31st.
