Disney Channel Orders Second Season of “Big City Greens” Ahead of Show’s Premiere

Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the animated series Big City Greens prior to the release of the first season. The show was created by Chris and Shane Houghton and is inspired by their rural upbringing.

What’s happening:

  • Disney Channel has ordered a second season of Big City Greens from creators and brothers Chris and Shane Houghton (Harvey Beaks).
  • Big City Greens is based on the Houghton’s upbringing in rural St. Johns, Michigan with characters inspired by real-life family members and townsfolk.
  • The comedy adventure show follows the story of 10 year old Cricket Green and his family as they move from the cournty to the big city. Optimistic and curious Cricket finds himself on all sorts epic adventures–with his family in tow.
  • Big City Greens will debut with a week of new episodes Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22, as part of Disney Channel’s GO! Summer programming. The show will continue to air new episodes throughout the Summer on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Disney Channel will begin airing Big City Greens shorts on June 16th.
