Magical Holiday Photograph #4
Today's Magical Holiday Memory comes from Mike Pucher. Mike brings us a great story about
getting the perfect picture at Disneyland.
It was nearly One O'Clock, in the morning. It was a chilly December. Disneyland security was doing their thing, getting people out of the park. I was enjoying the serenity of the park's beautiful decorations and atmosphere with some friends. I have always been enchanted by the park when there are no people around. The holiday music loop, sights, smells and just the fact that I was at Disneyland filled me with a euphoric happiness. As we were strolling down Main Street, chasing the snowflakes projected on the ground, we ran into Doobie of LaughingPlace.com fame. We chatted for a few moments, and then paused to look around. It was gorgeous. It would be the perfect photograph. The castle stood in all of it's majesty surrounded by trees that were shining with lights strung in their branches. The Hub looked especially gorgeous; it glowed with intense hues of blues and whites. The decorations incorporated with the landscaping finished everything off. It was perfection.
Doobie was the first to break the silence. He smiled as he remarked, "Now if only there was a web site out there that could offer a picture like this as a desktop picture." He was referring to the fact that I had launched Geeky's Gallery, my web site that features desktop pictures, a few months earlier. I agreed with Doobie. The only problem was my camera. It was a sturdy, fairly reliable camera, but it couldn't do night shots. It's just not that kind of camera. It broke my heart to have to pass up the opportunity to take the picture. It just wasn't possible though.
As you can tell, I haven't forgotten that night. I never lost sight of the opportunity to take the picture. A few things have changed since last December. I've upgraded my camera. I have a steady tripod. I know how to take decent photographs. I had all of the ingredients for success. I think it worked.
This holiday season, I got to do something that I had been wanting to do. It may be just another photograph in my collection, but it was special that I was able to finally do something that I had been wanting to do for a long time. It's just a little thing, but like Disneyland, the Holiday Season is all about the little things. I wish all you at LaughingPlace.com and beyond a very happy holidays where hopefully, you too can live out your little dreams.
