Magical Holiday Memories

Today two readers share Christmas stories:
I'd like to introduce myself to you. I am JenniBarra's mom, I have been looking at all your wonderful Disneyland Christmas pictures, they are great. I now read you are looking for Disney Christmas pictures, so I am attaching one from our family. The little gal in the yellow sweatshirt is none other then JenniBarra, I am next to her in the Mickey/Minnie shirt. Also in picture are JenniBarra's grandparents, this was my mom and dad's first Disneyland trip, in fact it was the first time they had flown or stayed in a hotel, JenniBarra sister and her father. We have another great picture with whole family in antlers too but did not have time to find and get ready for the holiday. We have spent many Thanksgiving holidays at Disneyland, in fact in 1997, hubby and I took the whole family to Disney World for our 30th wedding anniverarsy.

Disneyland is a place where things are as they should be. Good always wins, people are kind, and everything is beautiful. This is even more true when "The Happiest Place on Earth" becomes the "Merriest Place on Earth". I believe this is because Disneyland and Christmas compliment each other. Even if you don't view Christmas as a religious event, it is still a wonderful story. A Child is born with no apparent advantages. He is poor, there are whispers about His father, and His birthplace is a bit rough. Despite rumors of angels announcing He is a King, and a strange visitation by "Wise" men; He is not someone who appears destined for greatness. Indeed He becomes a rebel and dies a terrible death. His crazy ideas about everyone having value and being loved by "The Father" seem to die with Him. Yet, the story says he didn't stay dead. In fact, his ideas became the basis for a way to live life as it should be lived. I see this story reflected in many Disney endeavors. Mickey Mouse gives up everything to help a family of cats, a Beast becomes a Prince, seven little men defeat an evil sorceress, a young girl with no value saves her country. The Disney ideal is also about living life the way it should be lived. All of this comes together at Disneyland during the Christmas Season. The Disney ideal is everywhere, and so are the symbols of that Child. The amazing lights remind us of those "rumors' of angels in the sky. The decorated trees are a symbol of Resurrection and Eternal Life. The Christmas Carols give voice to what its all about. More than any other time of year Disneyland at Christmas represents the best hope of mankind.
Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men.
Merry Christmas!
