A little while ago I received the following email from a reader named Samantha.

Is it too late for me to contribute to your stories and highlights? And how do I contribute pictures? At the Disney Store where I am a cast member we decorate and donate a tree every year to be auctioned for the local children's hospital. Last year we did "Disney's Beantasmic" where the whole tree was Disney mini bean bag plush. And tomorrow we are decorating this year's tree. It is going to be "Visions of Disneyland". It is going to be great. We love spending time on this every year. This year's tree has been especially fun. I know the pictures would be great to show.

I agree, the pictures are great and would be perfect for Christmas weekend. I think they really embody the Christmas spirit. Samantha later told me the trees are a part of the VoluntEars which is sponsored by Disney, and the Disney Store Cast Members chose this service program to work with. Everything is paid for and donated by the Cast Members.

These are cast members dutifully wiring on each branch of our tree.  Because the tree is for charity, whoever buys it takes it as is, decorations and all; so everything has to be wired on for safety.

All of the Disney mini bean bags have been wired on. We are putting on the finishing touches with Mickey bows.

Final product! "Disney's Beantasmic" was our 1999 Festival of Trees entry.  It went for $2500.  We were excited, all of the money goes to the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

After wiring on the lights it was time for the ornaments.

This is me taking the attraction ornaments out of their boxes.
