Video: “Tale of The Lion King” Live Musical Show Premieres at Disney California Adventure

Prepare yourself to travel to the Pride Lands once again. The outdoor musical production “Tale of The Lion King” made its official debut at Disney California Adventure’s Palisades Stage (overlooking Paradise Bay and Pixar Pier) on Friday, after soft-opening one day earlier. The theatrical-style show combines live music, drama, and dance in tribute to Disney’s original The Lion King animated feature from 1994 and its highly anticipated upcoming CGI reimagining due out this summer.

The show features a cast of eighteen performers referred to as The Storytellers of the Pride Lands, who specialize in retelling legendary stories in their own style. Together they bring to life the saga of Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Nala, Timon and Pumbaa in the excellent twenty-five minute show “Tale of The Lion King.”

Of course, what would The Lion King be without its iconic songs written by Elton John and Tim Rice? “Tale of The Lion King” sees the cast reprising such memorable melodies as “The Circle of Life,” “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” (repurposed with “Be Prepared” as a terrific duet between Simba and Scar), “Hakuna Matata,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

With all-new musical arrangements, stage design, props, and costumes, “Tale of The Lion King” is a must-see for any fan of The Lion King visiting Disneyland Resort. The show is performed several times a day on Disney California Adventure’s Palisades Stage, so be sure to check the scedule available in the park or on Disneyland’s official website for more information. And don’t forget to pick up the new The Lion King drum popcorn bucket available in Grizzly Peak during your visit. Hakuna Matata!
